Phi Theta Kappa Purpose:

The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.

What is Phi Thetta Kappa?

  Today Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 1.5 million members and 1,200 chapters located in all 50 of the United States, U.S. territories, Canada, and Germany.

The innovative programs and services and array of membership benefits offered by Phi Theta Kappa are unequaled among honor societies. Co-curricular programs focus upon the Society's Hallmark of Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Fellowship. It is estimated that 200,000 students participate in Phi Theta Kappa programs each year.

Annually, approximately 100,000 students are inducted into Phi Theta Kappa. To be eligible for membership a student must complete a minimum of twelve hours of associate degree course work and generally earn a grade point average of 3.6or higher and must maintain a high academic standing throughout their enrollment in the two-year college, generally a 3.5 GPA.

  How you can get inducted?

After a student has been selected for prospective membership he/she will be sent a letter inviting membership with information about an orientation session.   At this session the officers will be present to explain Phi Theta Kappa and answer any questions.   All prospective members who decide to take advantage of their invitation will then be inducted into the group at a special ceremony.

Our chapter holds two induction ceremonies a year, one in the fall and one in the spring.   The ceremony is a celebration of the academic achievement all members have earned.   New members are inducted by the chapter officers in a time honored tradition.   They are then congratulated by the other members and their friends and families.
