Nursing Program Admissions

Begin Pre-Nursing in High School Online

Nursing students entering medical centerTake Pre-Nursing Classes Online while in High School

Excellent high school students may begin taking their pre-nursing classes online in their junior year. These courses are offered totally online and do not require travel to the college. The goal is to attract high school graduates directly into our award winning nursing program by starting them taking the pre-requisite nursing classes right online while they are still in high school.

Three Steps:

  • Text book used for HEHP 225 Contemporary Health, Access to Health by Donatelle 10th editionSpring Junior Year – Take HEHP 225 Contemporary Health Online. This course is a great course to begin your college career with. It teaches you how to learn online and it is straight forward in its delivery. You will learn how fun learning online truly is and enjoy the excitement of joining an online learning community while learning about improving your own health and aquiring healthy behaviors. Read what students say.
  • Fall Senior Year – Take BIOL 130 Anatomy and Physiology I Online, you must have a B or better in high school chemistry and biology. This course is a totally online science course that includes a laboratory which is sent to your house. It is the full equivalent of any A&P course taught at the college level and is widely accepted in transfer to other colleges.
  • Spring Senior Year – Take BIOL 131 Anatomy and Physiology II Online. This is the second half of "A&P" and completes the major "stumbling block" for most students entering a nursing program.

Take SATs for a quick start

Take the SATs in your junior or senior year. A combined score of 1100 in Math and Critical Reading on the SAT I may qualify you for a faster entry into the nursing program. Students who do not achieve an 1100 are still getting a "jump start” by completing 3 prerequisite nursing courses while still in high school.

Guidance Counselor's Permission

You must be an excellent student to enter this program and have your guidance counselor’s written permission.
