The following topics will be the focus of instruction:
• Cardiac Testing and Why:
Indications and testing modalities such as cardiac catheterization, stress testing, and CT Angiography will be discussed as well as patient education.

• New Trends in Diabetes Management:
New Diabetes management medications, sick day rules, educational tools will be discussed.

• Infection Control Update:
Explore reasons and treatment of recurrent C. diff infections, current infections control practices, and understanding of the importance of MRSA surveillance and screening and identification of Multi-Drug Resistance Organisms.

• Current Concepts in Stroke Treatment:
Review stroke statistics, risk factors, prevention strategies and present information on the use of t-PA for treatment of Acture Ischemic stroke, including exclusion criteria. The 7 “D’s” of stroke care will also be reviewed.

• Pressure Ulcers-Prediction, Prevention, Protocols:
Establishing the use of pressure ulcer risk assessment tools in your facility. Review most recent NPUAP guidelines for staging of pressure ulcers. Complete an overview of differentiating pressure ulcers from other types of skin lesions and prevention of pressure ulcers and choosing the right treatment for Stage 1, 2, 3, & 4 pressure ulcers.
