“Close the Loop”

Use Results to Improve the Program

  • Assessment activities should be perceived as a means toward improvement of academic programs and not an end in themselves.
  • Without being able to demonstrate such use of assessment results, all previous activities fall short of their intended purpose.
  • It is essential to “close the loop”!!!

Closing the Loop

  • Plan when program faculty will meet to discuss assessment results and determine appropriate action
  • Use assessment results to initiate action aimed at improving program
  • Remember that the key component is documentation.
  • Clearly relate the results back to the intended educational outcomes.
  • Keep documentation !!!
