Simple Problems and Concerns – Talk with your Professor
Formal academic grievances are handled following the procedure found on page 18 in the Student Handbook. Nevertheless, most problems and concerns of a minor nature are handled easily by going directly to your professor and speaking directly to them. They are readily available on their office hours which are posted directly outside of their office and are communicated to the student at the beginning of the semester.

Office Hours – A great time to resolve problems and concerns privately
The office hours are useful for discussions and talks related to any problems, concerns or suggestions that you may have and are also useful for special instruction for example clarifying a point or concept made in class. Even students who are participating in an online course are able to meet face-to-face with their instructors during the published office hours.
Students should feel free to “drop in” during the office hours. However, your professor may be working with another student and you may have to wait your turn. Notwithstanding, if you need to spend more time with your professor it is best to make an appointment to see them. You can call them at the number published on the Professor’s course syllabus or on the nursing faculty webpage or e-mail them. A quality measure within the nursing program is to answer all emails and phone messages within a 24 hour period Monday to Friday during the semester.
Problems, Concerns and Suggestions of a Global Nature

All problems, concerns and suggestions should be first addressed with your professor. Specific concerns and academic grievances must follow the procedure outlined on page 18 of the student handbook. However, if your problem, concern or suggestion is of a more global nature feel free to contact the Director of Nursing Education (Professor Sandra Kearns) and/or the Dean of Health Sciences and Human Performance (Dr. Jim Brown) by making an appointment through the nursing program office.
If the student may wish to remain anonymous, they may use a blue envelope marked “confidential” available at the nursing office and address them to your professor, the director or the dean. You can drop them off at the nursing office or slip them under the door of the appropriate office. The contents will be treated confidentially and with priority. We wish to hear from you and respond to your concerns. If you wish for us to follow up with you directly you need to provide your contact information.
