Professor Kathy Malachowski

Professor Malachowski teaches Women’s Health (HEHP 226), Contemporary Health (HEHP 225), First Aid/CPR/AED for Workplace, Schools and Community (HEHP 160), Instructor of Community Health and Safety (HEHP 260), Health Promotion at the Workplace (HEHP 250) and Student Success (ACAD 155).
Her vast experience in working with the American Red Cross as an IT (Instructor Trainer) enables her to train students to be both sufficient in their skills to save lives and train students to be good instructors of those skills. The words from a previous student of the HEHP 160 course, “After taking this course I feel confident that I could help someone in case of an emergency. Ms Malachowski made the class both fun and interesting”.
"I’ve had classes of this type before and you have been the best of the group.”
"I would not suggest that anyone else teach this course.”
"I enjoyed the class and it helped me with my basic skills. I got so use to using the equipment out of the rig that it really helped me get back to the basics. I really like the way you teach the course. It is good that I know that there are people out there that know what to do in an emergency. It makes my job easier and we can save more people.”
Professor Malachowski has certifications in certifying students in the use of the Automated External Defibrillator. She believes everyone should be certified in CPR and First Aid to be able to help those in need.
"I really enjoyed Ms. Malachowski’s class, she is an excellent teacher and I have had her for health and I have and will highly recommend her in the future.”
Her area of specialization is in Wellness and the Promotion of Health. She makes it evident in the manner in which she teaches that she is concerned with every one of her students well-being. As a former student expressed, “She is a generous and loving teacher. She is into people, bodies, minds and souls. I felt like starting a health regimen by the time I was through with her class”.
In the Contemporary Health course she attempts to create an atmosphere were students feel comfortable to ask questions and discuss their own personal health concerns. She feels a big part of teaching is applying your knowledge to your every day lives. This is what one student said, “She is good at explaining everything and gives a lot of details. I don’t know why, but I still remember what she taught me, which is something that never happens to me. She is an excellent professor, if a student doesn’t like this course it’s because they don’t work hard enough.”
