GRADING POLICY: Final grades are determined by student performance in four general categories—active class participation, essays, slide identification/comprehension quizzes, and a collaborative comparative research project that is presented to the class in a powerpoint lecture format. Student notebooks/portfolios and extracurricular projects (such as art museum visits, accompanied by a reflective essay) may also be factored into the final grade. To achieve an “A” for a final class grade, an individual student must also act as a classroom discussion leader. USE OF TECHNOLOGY: Extensive use of powerpoint in the classroom with other media as appropriate; and numerous internet-based assignments outside of the classroom (such as virtual museum visits). ABSENCE POLICY: No student may have more than three (3) unexcused absences. Openness to Activities That Support Individual Learning |
