Course Description:
BIOL 161 Biology I
4 creditsMajor concepts discussed include cell structure, bio-chemical reactions, energy relationships, evolution and the dynamics of plant functions. High school biology or BIOL 114 required. High school chemistry recommended.
Students must purchase lab kit and microscope

Tuition and Fees
Tuition and Fees are based on 4 semester hours and a $100 DL fee.
Safety
The Hands-On Labs kits are safe, cost-effective and environment-friendly. The kits include a lab manual plus the basic equipment and supplies required to complete the full semester of lab assignments described in each manual. Students need to carefully follow the safety guidelines provided.
Who should take this course online?
Special Guest Lecture - Tom Brown, America's foremost Naturalist and Nature Author
Ocean County's own Tom Brown has agreed to provide the students with a special online lecture on the Flora of the NJ Pine Barrens. Tom Brown is the author of The Tracker and the Tom Brown Field Guide Series and brother of Dr. Jim Brown the former OCC dean and current science professor. He will share his special knowledge of the Pine Barrens and its unique botanical rarities as a capstone for General Biology I course.
