BIOL 114 Principles of Biological Science Online
 Ocean County College is the first community college in the Northeastern United States to develop an introductory biology course and place it totally online with both content and laboratory being directed via distance learning. OCC has teamed up with LabPaq to deliver the entire course through WebCT.

Students must purchase lab kit
Independent Laboratory Exercises Laboratory Manual and Lab Kit: available through LabPaq, Denver Colorado. LabPaq
BioKit-105 (BK-105) Approximate cost for kit – $160.00
Students should purchase the laboratory kit at least three weeks before the semester begins, and the kit is available (rush delivery is an option) from the above web link.
Tuition and Fees
Tuition and Fees are based on 4 semester hours and a $100 DL fee.
Safety
The At-Home Science kits are safe, cost-effective and environment-friendly. The kits include a lab manual plus the basic equipment and supplies required to complete the full semester of lab assignments described in each manual. Students need to carefully follow the safety guidelines provided.
Who should take this course online?
- Students who work full time and find it difficult to attend classes face-to-face because of time contraints.
- You must be an excellent student who is comfortable with computers.
- You should be a self starter and good at following directions.
- You should have excellent reading comprehension skills. Students who are in developmental courses should not take this course online.
- Potential nursing students considering the One Day per Week Nursing Program.
