Ocean County College administers the following federal student financial aid programs:

These are described in The Student Guide for 2009-2010, which is available upon request from the OCC Financial Aid Office and online at www.studentaid.ed.gov/guide.

State Assistance
State student aid programs may provide need-based and non-need-based grants/scholarships, work, and loan programs for residents. For more information on a particular state's student aid programs, the student should contact his/her state's higher education agency. (The names and phone numbers of all state agencies are available by contacting the Financial Aid Office or online in 2009-2010 The Student Guide at www.studentaid.ed.gov/guide. All students who consider borrowing funds to meet their educational costs should investigate the availability of grant assistance, including state grant assistance, before taking a student loan.

New Jersey Grants and Scholarships
New Jersey residents apply for New Jersey student financial aid by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and listing Ocean County College, school code 002624. The federal processor sends your application data to the NJ Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA). More information is available online at www.hesaa.org

Private Assistance
Private scholarships/grants are available from local and national organizations and foundations. Students are encouraged to investigate their eligibility for these funds and required to report receipt of any awards to the Financial Aid Office. The Financial Aid Office notifies students of any adjustments to a financial aid package based on receipt of private scholarships.

In addition, the Ocean County College Foundation offers scholarships.

Private loans are available from national lenders to assist in meeting college costs. Students are encouraged to apply for federal and state aid, and seek private grants and scholarships, before using private loan funds. For more information, contact the Financial Aid Office.

Veterans' Educational Benefits
There are state and federal assistance programs that provide student aid for veterans and members of the Selected Reserves and National Guard, veterans with ratable disabilities, dependents of veterans who died or become disabled as a result of active duty, and dependents of military service personnel who are officially declared prisoners of war or missing in action.
