Instructions To Apply For Student And/Or Alternative Loans

  1. Students Applying for Federal Stafford or Third-Party Alternative Loans must complete, date, and sign this worksheet.

  2. *Ocean County College uses a College Lender List and uses the NJ Higher Education Student Assistance Authority as its guarantor.  However, per Federal regulations borrowers have the right to choose ANY lender, even if that lender is not one that OCC has used previously.  A school may not refuse to certify a loan based on a borrower’s choice of lender or guarantor.

  3. The loan application process is not complete unless a paper or electronic promissory note has been completed and signed and Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling has been completed.  Entrance counseling can be completed online at www.mappingyourfuture.org or a paper form can be obtained from the Financial Aid Office.

  4. You may be asked to provide a copy of your social security card and driver’s license.

  • File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA);
  • I must register and maintain enrollment in 6 credits;
  • I must be enrolled in a Degree or eligible Certificate program;
  • I must not currently be in default or owe an overpayment on any previous student loan or Federal aid;
  • I understand my loan amount will depend on my financial aid eligibility and cannot exceed the total cost of education minus any other aid I may receive.
