Welcome to the Anemometer Program Website!

The Ocean County College Anemometer Program (OCCAP) is selecting and placing a minimum of four wind measuring anemometers throughout the shore area by forming partnerships with organizations and businesses that currently own and operate towers. These anemometers will be standalone, self powered, and self contained, devices, capable of storing months worth of data for retrieval at regular intervals.

Using readily available tower sites will maximize the use of currently available assets. A maximum of six anemometers will be sought for placement at intervals along the NJ Shore, both on the barrier islands, as well as up to 15 miles inland.he data collected will be posted on the Ocean County College website, showing the collected wind data for the anemometers in the Ocean County region. The partners in return will receive the wind data, and additional data they choose and supply transducers with which to collect such data, as an indicator for future investments in wind energy.

Continuing barriers to installation of wind turbines, partnerships, and operators, will provide valuable information to the program participants regarding the practical concerns of wind power at the New Jersey Shore.

Members of the Ocean County College Anemometer Program will also be meeting with government officials at the municipal level to discuss wind energy development and assess wind power potential in their towns.
