Date Projections

Months 1 - 2
The Project Director will develop the necessary documents for goal one completion, including protocol for anemometer installation and data collection sheets

  • Design and develop Ocean County College Anemometer Program (OCCAP) website
  • Develop Memorandum of Agreement for partners.
  • Send announcements of the OCCAP to the public
  • Contacts within the shore tower owner/operator community will be researched for the purpose of forming partnerships. These tower owner operators will come from all sectors; federal, state, and municipal governments and their agencies, as well as commercial operators.
  • OCCAP Project Director to establish monthly meeting schedule with OCC Director of Facilities, Engineering and OCC Director of Grant Resources to ensure deliverables

Months 3 - 4

  • A database of existing tower information will be created, which will be a source of information regarding tower owners/contacts, tower permitting, tower sites, and tower control; a point ranking system will be used to determine the feasibility of wind power potential.
  • A letter will be sent to all identified tower owners to stimulate interest, highlight the potential benefits of wind power, and direct interested organizations and businesses to the OCCAP web page(s) for supplemental information.

Month 5

  • Upon contact feedback, partnership with selected tower owner operators will be finalized with a Memorandum of Agreement to express written consent for the placement of anemometers. The United States Coast Guard, with four tower assets in the region, has been contacted and has reacted favorably to hosting anemometers for wind power data collection.
  • The Project Director will order the necessary equipment and supplies for each partner.

Months 6 - 7

  • Meet with partners to communicate installation & maintenance protocol and install anemometers; professional commercial aerial riggers will be used to climb and place the measuring equipment. 
  • Update OCCAP web page(s) with partner information.
  • Announce OCCAP partnerships

Months 8 - 23

  • Maintain/continue contact with partners for data collection.
  • Update data sheets monthly and submit quarterly progress reports to the OCE, OCCAP partners and upload to OCCAP website.

Months 9 – 12

  • Contact municipalities within the Ocean County Shore region to schedule meetings to begin a dialogue with the various zoning boards about ordinances and wind power towers.
  • Month 12: Annual progress report to the OCE, OCCAP partners and upload to OCC website.

Months 22 - 23

  • Develop a matrix for the Office of Clean Energy to disseminate to the public.

Month 24

  • Post final results on OCCAP web page(s)
  • Final progress report to all partners and the OCE
  • Publish a matrix for the Office of Clean Energy to disseminate to the public
