**Transfer to NJ STARS II requires a minimum cumulative 3.25 GPA and completion of an

Associate degree.**

Getting Ready :

• Apply for graduation prior to final semester at Ocean County College.

• Apply to and be accepted by a New Jersey four-year public college or university participating in NJ STARS II. Once accepted, contact the Financial Aid department at the four-year institution and identify yourself as an NJ STARS student.

• Request final and official transcript be sent from OCC to the transfer institution.

• If a student completes an associate degree in December, the student must request a certificate of completion from the Office of Registration and Records. When requesting final transcript, please write "NJ STARS Request Certificate of Completion" on top of transcript request form.

• If applicable, request an official transcript of any other college credit earned from an institution other than Ocean County College to be sent to the transfer institution.
  • OCC cannot forward any transfer credits on to the transfer institution. This transcript must be sent by the original source.

• For students transferring for the Fall semester, file for FAFSA: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ indicating the college that you wish to attend as First Choice. The College Code for Ocean County College is 002624.

• For students transferring for the Spring semester, edit the FAFSA : http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ to indicate the four year institution as First Choice. Students must also edit their information on the State site by going to https://www.hesaa.org/SelfServ/jsp/registered/WebAppsGateway.jsp. Students must wait until December 1st to make these changes. Editting this information before this time could result in loss NJ STARS of eligiblity.

General Information:

• In order to be eligible for NJ STARS II, a student must earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 upon completion of the associate degree.

• Participating in the NJ STARS program at the community college does not guarentee acceptance to a four-year institution. Students must meet all other entrance requirements as mandated by the institution in order to be accepted.

• The GPA earned at the community college is not be averaged into a student's GPA at the transfer institution. A student's GPA starts over at 0.0 upon transfer.
