What
is Counseling?
At Ocean County College, counseling is a free solutions-based process of helping
an individual cope with everyday experiences. Counseling is available for any
member of the OCC community, to address a wide range of and inter
issues that interfere with mental wellness, daily living, and success.
On a short-term basis, in a relaxing, empathetic, and supportive environment,
you will have an opportunity to share your interests, likes and dislikes, hopes,
dreams, frustrations, or any other topic you would like to explore. Most people
often experience times of sadness, uncertainty, disappointment, guilt, and confusion,
therefore you are not alone. Your feelings are real and important. Professionally
trained and credentialed counselors are available to guide you towards effectively
resolving your identified problem. In counseling, you will learn to capitalize
on your strengths and your potential for growth.
