Report Writing Skills
for Police Officers
This course will improve the report writing and
communication skills of police officers, detectives,
and corrections officers. The course includes
the fundamentals of writing and communication.
Students will gain a better understanding of how
to write a superior police report with clarity
and precision by studying format, coherence, and
voice. Appropriate language, grammar, punctuation,
and spelling will be addressed. Reporting incidents
and documenting the crime scene accurately and
thoroughly will be covered in this course. The
report will be customized to the department's
report format.
