Healthcare Provider CPR

Learn how to provide CPR to victims of all ages, including the use of an automated external defibrillator and relief of choking. It is intended for participants who provide healthcare to patients in a wide variety of settings.  This certification can be used to meet the CPR requirement for the OCC nursing program. Bring a brown bag lunch. Students must bring $17 to class to cover AHA textbook and certification card.

Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) Prep/Remediation

The course provides students with a targeted overview to help sharpen skills needed to successfully complete the TEAS-V test.  This test serves as the entrance test for Nursing School.  Includes: Two electronic practice tests with supporting study guide.

Nursing as a Career Option

This seminar provides decision making information regarding choosing nursing as a career option.  The information includes employment demographics, types and settings for nursing education, nursing industry statistics, and the benefits of nursing as a career choice.  Also included are: nursing job descriptions, nursing curriculums including Ocean County College’s Nursing program requirements, and an assessment of the candidate’s necessary qualities for becoming a great nurse.

Operating Room Nursing

Prerequisites: Current RN license (NJ), Healthcare Provider CPR, physical exam with lab work, hepatitis B series, malpractice insurance and criminal background check (information provided at registration)

Train in the exciting specialty of operating room nursing.  RNs will receive operating room training through lecture, lab practice and clinical experience.  Textbooks required: Alexander’s Care of the Patient in Surgery and AORNs Standards, Recommended Practices and Guideline (approx $36).

Organ Donation

NJ Sharing Network will present a short presentation of the general facts about organ and tissue donation in the hopes that we will clear up some myths and misconceptions of the general community about the subject.  Following, a certified NJ Sharing Network volunteer will share their personal experience with organ and tissue donation, whether it be a donor family member or a recipient.  There will also be a question and answer period.
