
Patient Care Technician Training Program
This training program includes comprehensive lecture, lab and clinical practice which prepares you to seek employment as a diversified and multiskilled patient care technician. Learn venipuncture, electrocardiography, vital signs and direct patient care. Clinical sites provide the opportunity to practice and perfect all activities under the supervision of hospital staff. Upon successful completion of the program, you are eligible for certification as a phlebotomy technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. You will also be BGM and CPR certified. Medical evaluation and vaccination requirements must be met prior to clinical participation (additional fee approx. $500). All clinical requirements will be discussed the first night of class. Professional liability and student accident insurance (additional fee approx $60) are to be purchased after the first class. OCC lab coat and stethoscope required. Textbook required: Skills for the Patient Care Technician (approx $90).
