Assisted Living Administrator

With the graying of America, assisted living residences and comprehensive personal care homes are becoming increasingly popular choices of residence.  These facilities are required to employ individuals who have completed an assisted living administrator training program and passed the state certification examination.  The Assisted Living Administrator course prepares students to become effective and efficient in directing assisted living services.  This 56-hour course has been approved by the New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services and consists of 40 hours of classroom participation and 16 hours of practicum at an assisted living facility.  Students must have a high school diploma or GED and be at least 21 years of age.

This course is comprehensive preparation for employment including:

  •   Assisted Living Values
  •   Scope of Services
  •   Pharmacy Services
  •   Nursing Services
  •   Service Planning
  •   Staffing
  •   Assessment
  •   Documentation
  •   Financial Management
  •   Negotiated Risk Management
  •   How to Create a Home-like Environment

Upon completion of this training program, students will be eligible to take the New Jersey State Assisted Living Administrator certification examination.  Cost of examination application is $500.  Information about this exam will be available in class.
