Upon successful completion of this program, students may apply to take the examination offered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists to become a certified phlebotomy technician.  Course topics include: anatomy and physiology blood collection procedures and equipment interpersonal relations difficult blood draws Students are expected to meet the following requirements prior to clinical practice. Attend a minimum of 80% of classroom lectures and lab practices sessions. Show proof of current professional liability insurance. Comply with current OSHA regulations at all times during laboratory and clinical practice. Show valid documentation of a complete physical examination including urinalysis and complete blood count results. Show valid documentation of initiation of the Hepatitis B vaccination series. Show valid documentation of full MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella) immunization status. Show valid documentation of a negative Mantoux (Tuberculosis) test or a negative chest x-ray with a positive Mantoux test. Show valid documentation of a Varicella (Chicken Pox) titer to demonstrate immunity status; immunization is not required. Accept responsibility for any and all medical expenses incurred during the program.
