Parent Orientation

Congratulations on your student’s acceptance to Ocean County College! Please join us for Parent Orientation.

What is Parent Orientation?

At Parent Orientation, parents of incoming students will be introduced to Academic Leadership and Student Support Services at Ocean County College.  You will hear about the academic opportunities and resources available to your student, and you will learn how you can best support your student in the transition to becoming an independent college student.

Parent Orientation Schedule

Parent Orientations will be held from April - August.  If scheduling permits, you should attend the Parent Orientation prior to your student attending the New Student Orientation, so that you will have more information to discuss with your student.  However, if it is not possible for you to attend prior to your student, you will still have a great experience and receive all the information you need.

Parent Orientations will be held on the following dates.  All Parent Orientations will be held in the Gateway Building Lecture Hall and will conclude with a tour of OCC’s beautiful campus and facilities. Please RSVP your information by clicking here or by calling 732-255-0300.

* Campus Tours will start at 5:15 (8:15 on Saturday, July 12) for those parents able to arrive early. A tour will also be available after the  presentations for anyone wishing to do a tour at the end of the evening.

Parent Orientation will take place in the Gateway Building Lecture Hall, Room 104.

Do I also attend my student’s New Student Orientation?

New Student Orientation is for students only. Our student orientation program is designed to help students develop a sense of independence and responsibility, and parents can rest assured that OCC advisors will guide students as they make informed decisions about their degree program and first semester courses.  The Parent Orientation will address the unique questions and concerns of parents of first-time college students, and you will have all the information you need to discuss the first semester at OCC with your student.
