New Trial Database: America's Historical Newspapers (1690-2000)
The Library has a trial subscription for the database America's Historical Newspapers (1690-2000). For the next two weeks, library patrons will be able to access hundreds of digitized U.S. newspapers covering colonization through globalization. A cross-curricular resource, America’s Historical Newspapers, provides information for students to think critically about their research topic in all their classes, including: English composition, American History, Sociology, Science, Humanities and others. In addition to articles, illustrations, advertisements, classifieds, birth and marriage announcements, obituaries, stories about historic people and other articles are available exactly as they appeared in print. Check it out and let us know your impressions!
Patrons will need to log in to their Ocean Cruiser accounts in order to access this (or other databases) from off-campus. For help with this, please contact a member of library staff or visit our help page here: http://www.ocean.edu/Library/accessdatabases.htm

Welcome to the Quiet Floor!
You told us in the 2010 library survey that you need a quiet place to study. Therefore, we’ve designated the entire second floor as “quiet space” for study and research. Here are the “Quiet Floor” rules:
· No talking above a whisper anywhere on the floor, including study rooms.
· No extended conversations, even at a whisper.
· No use of cell phones whatsoever.
· No other noise sources are permitted on the floor.
· No disruptive behavior or you will be asked to leave.
ØPLEASE be considerate of others by helping to maintain a quiet atmosphere.
ØPLEASE report loud individuals to library staff immediately.
Library staff and campus security will make periodic walkthroughs to enforce quiet and other Library rules and will respond promptly to requests for enforcement from users.
