Oriana Smith Honored at National Girls and Women in Sports Day
Ocean County College softball-basketball player Oriana Smith was honored February 3, 2008 as the College selection for Garden State Athletic Conference Female Athlete of the Year for 2007. Oriana and other female athletes from all colleges and high schools throughout NJ were honored at Seton Hall University as part of the state recognition of National Girls and Women’s in Sports Day. Oriana has been a standout out in both sports. As a freshman Oriana earned All Region and All Conference honors as OCC’s clean up hitter and centerfielder. While in her 2nd season of basketball she earned Division III National player of the week Jan 16, 2008. Oriana is also a standout in the classroom as a NJSTARS Student Athlete.
