OCC Cross Country Individual National Champion Jen Nelson Honored as Woman Athlete of the Year
OCC’s DIII NJCAA Cross Country Individual National Champion Jen Nelson received her Woman Athlete of the Year Award at Seton Hall University on February 8, 2010. Jen led the OCC Cross Country Team to its 1st ever Cross Country National Championship Title where she finished 1st in the Country with a time of 19:48 in the 5 K race this past Fall at the NJCAA Finals. Jen finished in first place for all DIII NJCAA females for each race she competed in this season. As a NJSTARS student, Jen also excels in the classroom and was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa honor society at OCC. As a runner Jen was selected Runner of the Week in the coaches selections for the nation the week of Oct. 14, 2009. With her success she earned All American status as the # 1 runner in Division III. Jen plans to continue her academic and athletic career upon her spring 2010 graduation pursuing her future career in physical therapy. Congratulations to Jen for all her accomplishments.
