2010 OCC Softball Team Finishes the Season Strong

The Ocean County College Softball team played well throughout the season and qualified  for the Region XIX Tournament with a 16 – 14 – 1 record.  The team was led by outfielder Melanie Sutter who was named to the All-Region XIX First Team.  Her teammates, Roxi Keelan, Krystal Kmiechick and Casey Mooney, were all named to the All-Region XIX Second Team.  The 2010 team also had numerous players recognized in the All-Garden State Athletic Conference Team.  The players selected for the First Team of the GSAC were Melanie Sutter and Krystal Kmiechick.  Those selected for the Second Team were Roxi Keelan, Christina Lusch, and Casey Mooney.

The Vikings earned their way into the Region XIX Tournament playing two intense games against Camden County College; coming up just short in nine innings 2-1 and again in the bottom of the seventh inning of the second game losing 3-2.  The team played extremely well and worked very hard throughout the season winning their last 6 games to earn a spot in the tournament.

Congratulations to the team and the coaching staff of Bob Mazanec, Laura Dentroux and Jill Romanovsky for a standout season.
