Highlights
Ocean County College hosted its second MAISA regatta on
September 20-21 at the Island Heights Yacht Club. We had
wonderful after hurricane weather. On Saturday we had
southeast breeze from 8-12mph. On Sunday it was a bit
lighter with 4-10mph for the northeast. Sunday was very
shifty and the racecourse was full of light air holes.
We had a delayed start on Saturday to allow teams to travel
in non tropical storm conditions. Racing began at 1:00
and went to 6:00 with a BBQ immediately following the
racing at Island Heights Yacht Club. Sunday racing began
at 9:30 and was finished by 2:00. We sailed a full rotation
of 24 races.
We had excellent race management. Many thanks to William
D. Bogardus, Bill Warner and Will Demand. Thanks go to
Judges Drew Seibert, Len Egee and Rogen Brown. Four protests
were filed with two disqualifications. Thanks go to Colie
Sails for donating the regatta T Shirts.
