OCC races in the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing
Association (MAISA) region and was ranked 19 out of
33 in the final MAISA 2002 fall rankings.
Regatta Highlights
Ocean County College hosted their first ever MAISA Regatta.
The weather cooperated both days. On Saturday the winds
were from the southeast ranging for 8-18 mph. All races
were held off the Toms River YC dock. It was perfect
for viewing the races Four major newspapers covered
the regatta. Great color pictures in the Sunday papers.
The new sails and boats looked spectacular.
The race committee ran 16 races on Saturday. Ocean County
College hosted all participants to a buffet dinner.
On Sunday the weather was perfect. 60 degrees with winds
7-14 mph from the southeast.
The committee ran six Gold Cup races. The Jury of Len
Egee and Drew Seibert had three protests the entire
weekend. To cap off a perfect weekend TRYC invited everyone
to their Sunday Brunch. A great time was had by all.
