Strategic Initiatives

It is the College's belief that the people of Ocean County deserve the best. For us to be our best, we need people of competence and character who will work as a team for the common good. We need to be: a) entrepreneurial, b) responsive to our community and students, c) technologically advanced, d) innovators of new modes of teaching, and e) a leader in providing a caring, ethical and professional environment.

Ocean County College has identified four Strategic Initiatives to help us meet our goal of becoming one of the finest community colleges in the nation. These Strategic Initiatives provide guidance to administrators, faculty and staff throughout the College as they create and implement operational planning objectives for their academic departments and administrative offices.

ENERGIZING
Enrichment & Innovation - Ocean County College will encourage innovation in programs and services in order to enhance student achievement, promote faculty/staff development, and enrich the cultural and economic life of the community.

Embracing Diversity - Ocean County College will attract and retain a diverse faculty, staff, and student community and promote an environment that embraces and values diversity.

OUTREACH
Building Community & Partnerships - Ocean County College will actively partner with the local and global community to enrich and advance community development and to provide leadership in workforce training and redevelopment.

Marketing, Recruitment & Retention - Ocean County College will optimize enrollment by developing a comprehensive strategy for marketing the college and by improving the recruitment of new and the retention of existing students.

TECHNOLOGY
Infusion of Technology - Ocean County College will use emerging technologies in order to strengthen college teaching, student learning, student support programs, and administrative processes.

RENEWAL
Collegiate Communication & Collaboration - Ocean County College will encourage interdepartmental communication and interdisciplinary collaboration in order to promote an open exchange of ideas and information, cultivate a shared frame of reference, and create an atmosphere of openness, integrity, and trust.

Enhancing Physical Resources - Ocean County College will effectively manage, upgrade, and construct the physical resources of the college, including buildings, grounds, and infrastructure, in order to support its mission and goals.

Institutional Advancement - Ocean County College will promote its reputation and visibility and actively seek new sources of financial support.
