College Readiness

Are You Exempt from Taking Developmental Courses?

If you are enrolled in a degree program you’ll need to demonstrate college-level skills in English and Mathematics.

Options include:

  • High School GPA of 3.0 or above including:
    • For English exemption  ≥ 3.0 High School GPA
    • For Mathematics exception ≥ 3.0 High School GPA that includes Algebra II and one Algebra Intensive Course (Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry or Calculus)
  • Submit your transcript:
    • By mail: The Office of Registration & Records, 1 College Drive, Toms River, NJ 08754
      or
    • By email to registrar@ocean.edu. Include “Review requested for testing exemption” in your email.
  • Transcripts are good for up to five (5) years from the graduation date listed

Submit qualifying test scores to Registrar@ocean.edu:

You can prove proficiency to enroll in pre-calculus or calculus by:

  • Schedule pre-calculus/calculus test through Testing Center ocean.edu/test (test listed under Next Generation Accuplacer)
  • Submit high school transcripts to:
    • By Mail to The Office of Registration & Records, 1 College Drive, Toms River, NJ 08754
      or
    • By email to registrar@ocean.edu. Include “Review requested for higher level math” in your email.
