Are You Exempt from Taking Developmental Courses?
If you are enrolled in a degree program you’ll need to demonstrate college-level skills in English and Mathematics.
Options include:
- High School GPA of 3.0 or above including:
- For English exemption ≥ 3.0 High School GPA
- For Mathematics exception ≥ 3.0 High School GPA that includes Algebra II and one Algebra Intensive Course (Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry or Calculus)
- Submit your transcript:

You can prove proficiency to enroll in pre-calculus or calculus by:
- Schedule pre-calculus/calculus test through Testing Center ocean.edu/test (test listed under Next Generation Accuplacer)
