The TAACCCT Grant Program –
helping students get the skills they need for in-demand jobs in health care professions!

What is the TAACCCT Grant Program?

Ocean County College is one of 13 community colleges in New Jersey who have been awarded the TAACCCT Grant (Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College & Career Training Grant), which is funded through the Department of Labor. Through this grant, Ocean County College is able to expand and improve upon their ability to deliver career training programs that will help job seekers get the skills they need for in-demand jobs in the field of health care. The three primary fields include Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, and Medical Office Specialist (which includes training in Medical Billing & Coding, Administrative Medical Assistant, and Electronic Health Records).

Why training in health care?

Local available jobs in health care are projected to increase exponentially over the next few years (over 60,000 additional jobs between  2010 and 2020 according to New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development). The goal of the TAACCCT Grant Program is to address this increase in demand by successfully matching quality health care jobs with newly trained, highly motivated individuals, and to help them improve their income level and job satisfaction.

Who is elegible?

There are no income level requirements to participate in the TAACCCT Grant program. The program services are available for those students enrolled in Continuing & Professional Education certification programs in either Medical Office Specialist, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or Patient Care Technician. Additional credit and non-credit allied health career tracks coming soon.

What are the Benefits?

Participants in the program will receive the training and internship opportunities that are essential to obtaining desired careers in the health care field and one-on-one job placement advisement. Partnerships are being developed with local health care employers focused on launching graduates into their new careers.
