Doctors, nurses and other healthcare
professionals rely on Patient Care
Technicians/Assistants to assist with the
critical day-to-day care some patients require.
As a PCT/A, you'll provide hands-on assistance to
serve patients' basic needs, as well as work
alongside other healthcare professionals. More
patients require special care, sometimes
around-the-clock. Needs vary from patient to
patient, making it vital that the Patient Care
Technician/Assistant has a diverse range of
knowledge and skills to provide their basic care.
During this program you will learn
venipuncture, electrocardiography, vital signs
and direct patient care. Clinical sites provide
the opportunity to practice all activities under
the supervision of hospital staff.  Upon
successful completion of the program, you are
eligible to sit for the Patient Care Technician
certification (NHA). Medical evaluation and
vaccination requirements must be met prior to
clinical participation. 90% didactic and 100%
clinical attendance required. Acknowledgement of
risk and responsibility health insurance and
waiver must be signed. Clear criminal background
check required. CPR included. Professional
liability and student accident insurance
(additional fee approx. $50) must be purchased
after the first class. Scrubs, OCC lanyard, Badge holder, and stethoscope required. Textbook required. 24.4 CEUs
