Program for Autistic Children Offered at OCC in Nov-Dec

Continuing & Professional Education at Ocean County College is offering Sensitivity Super Powers for Autistic children. Classes are held on Ocean County College’s Main Campus, College Drive, Toms River, NJ (unless specified).

Sensitivity Super Powers is an enrichment program for high-functioning Autistic children, ages 5-12 years old, created to align sensory sensitive kids with their “super powers” and become the hero of their own story. This program focuses on each child’s unique abilities and fosters empowerment, confidence, and compassion. Children will be exposed to art, music, yoga, and animal, laughter, and play therapy.

Possible trips include Allaire Community Farm, Charlot Riders Horse Farm, Insectropolis, Jakes Branch Park, Toms River Library, and Novins Planetarium. A calendar of all events and trips will be provided during Parent Orientations.  Classes will be held on Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon from November 11 to December 16. Cost: $225 per session.

In addition, a Parent Orientation will be held on Monday, November 6 at 6:30 p.m.

Adaptive parenting and self-care classes will also be offered to parents, legal guardians and family members on campus by a licensed Special Ed consultant while children are in session. Dates to be announced.
