This course is designed to introduce the student to various practices and principles in the field of social work and the social work method. Generalist values and philosophy will be examined. The role of the social worker in relation to clients and the other helping professions and as an agency and societal representative will be considered. The helping process and specific intervention skills will be illustrated by materials drawn from case, managers, group work, community practice methods and from a variety of counseling theories.
