Travel to France/Belgium

Take an incredible 9-day guided historical and cultural adventure through France and Brussels, Belgium. Visit WWI/WWII hot spots including Omaha/Utah Beaches, Air-borne Museum at Sainte-Mere-Eglise, and Coleville American Cemetery. After visiting Caen and Normandy, take in the beautiful scenery at Mont St. Michel. Then spend three days in Paris! Visit the Eiffel Tower and enjoy dinner at Restaurant 58. Check out the Louvre, Versailles Palace, and Notre Dame Cathedral. Enroute from Paris to Brussels, stop in Bruges at Fort des Dunes, used by both Allied and Axis forces in WW2. Free time to sightsee and take in the culture of Bruges and Brussels before a farewell dinner and departure home!

Academic Credit

MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY are welcome to participate on a non-credit basis. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and out of high school. STUDENTS will be enrolled in “HIST 251: Travel Seminar in France” or “FILM 190: World Cinema” for 3 college credits

Seminar Leader

Robert Marchie is a Lecturer of History at OCC. He has a strong background in World and American History and brings an intense passion for diversity and understanding of culture to the Study Abroad world.

Stephen Downey is a Lecturer of History at OCC. Downey specializes in American cultural and political history, and teaches courses in modern European history, as well as global cinema. Professor Downey has
travelled extensively France and Belgium.
