OCC, NJCU Sign Agreement For Connected Degree Program

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Ocean County College and New Jersey City University signed an academic programs partnership agreement on Monday, March 2, that will seamlessly connect students pursuing associate degrees at OCC to a variety of bachelor’s and master’s degree programs at NJCU.

The agreement enables students to earn their AS or AA degree at OCC and then transfer up to 90 credits to a variety of undergraduate or graduate programs at NJCU towards completion of its BS/BA or MS/MA degrees.

OCC has long offered students a comprehensive, effective, and affordable educational experience for those just out of high school, those who have decided to return to the classroom as older adults, or those who are somewhere in between.

“Our great hope,” said OCC President Dr. Jon H. Larson, “is that we provide an environment of and for academic innovation and that our scholars are well-prepared to transfer to a four-year school, if they so choose, and to secure meaningful career opportunities following their formal education track.”

After two years at OCC, students could begin studies at NJCU, which prepares its graduates to enter professions in a number of areas – from Management and Marketing to Data Science Analytics and Information Technology – or to, first, pursue graduate studies.

NJCU President Sue Henderson noted, “Our partnership with OCC advances the University’s commitment to create transformational impact for students through targeted degree programs. We are thrilled to provide opportunities to optimize the skills and education that students receive so that they are equipped with the tools they need to navigate today’s job market.

“Our faculty are experts in their disciplines and leaders in industry, and take an individualized approach to teaching, which makes our educational programs particularly well aligned with OCC’s student-driven mission,” she added.
