It is the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that makes these features possible.
At OCC, we offer a 60-credit associate in applied science (AAS) program in Artificial Intelligence that a student can complete in just two years. OCC is proud to have worked with Intel to develop this AAS in Artificial Intelligence through Intel’s A.I. for Future Workforce Program. With this AAS degree students can go straight into the workforce upon completion.
For those students who already have a degree in computer science, we also offer an advanced certificate in artificial intelligence.
Salary & Growth
- Annual salaries in this field range from $60,000-$110,000.
- Over the next 5 years, there is a projected increase of 21 to 29% for computer system analysts, machine learning engineers, computer programmers and software quality assurance engineers. There is projected 6.5% increase for computer research scientists.

Program Coordinator
Ken Michalek has been a College Lecturer II at Ocean County College since 2019 after a 30-year career at AT&T Laboratories.
Ken developed several applications for various AT&T businesses including Web Hosting, Internet, Network Management and Business Phone (PBX) systems. After developing applications for over 13 years, Ken was promoted to Director of New Technology Development and served as a manager of various software teams that developed and supported several critical business applications for AT&T. Ken worked closely with Intel to bring Artificial Intelligence programs to Ocean County College.
Ken’s degrees include a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo, a MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Master’s in computer science from Monmouth University.
