Battle Royale: Make Your First Fortnite Style Video Game Age 8-14

Fans of Fortnite we need you! Instead of playing the game, campers design their own. Using professional 3D game development software, they build levels and assets inspired by popular Battle Royale games like Fortnite. Campers get cartoonish action and battle sequences. Campers’ games are available on the password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Campers work in pairs/teams for most of the program.

Calling all future coders, programmers, & designers! Campers learn the basics of coding languages like HTML, JavaScript, and CSS through a series of web projects & design challenges each day and be on their way to becoming the next tech star! Whether they want to be a silicon valley CEO or the high school student who just made $1 million dollars for programming in his bedroom, our camp has the essentials needed to begin that journey. eSports Apprentice-YouTube Streamers And Gamers Age 8-14

For the next pro gamer, streamer, or gamecaster our camp teaches the basics to get started! No longer just a hobby, eSports is the fastest growing career for the next generation. Over 400 million people watched YouTube videos and Twitch streams of video game competitions this year alone! In our camp, campers develop competitive game-play skills in Black Rocket’s new eSports App, learn how to produce commentary for live tournaments, use professional streaming software, and most importantly practice online safety. They gain full access to the eSports App and a video of their class tournament with commentary. We do not broadcast videos publicly but we share them with all campers in the class.

Lego Movies Age 8-11

Campers learn to share the imaginative storylines they come up with! We all play with Legos and imagine what each character would say or do. Campers can put those storylines into their own movie! Whether they enjoy the artistry of stop motion or prefer splicing together video clips with narrator comments, our workshop brings campers’ imagination to life using 150 pounds of Legos, their imagination, and digital technology.

Make Your First 3-D Video Game! Age 8-14

In our Black Rocket classic, campers go well beyond the limitations of the traditional 2D game design classes and create an immersive 3D world. They learn the physics behind 3D games and explore beginner event scripting, level design, controlling the flow of gameplay, and storytelling. Campers’ games are available on the password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Campers work in pairs/teams for most of the program.

Minecraft Makers Age 8-14

Campers travel to the Nether with Snapology this summer need to watch out for those creepers! Our camp brings Minecraft to life using LEGO bricks. Each day campers work on awesome activities that allow them to create their own Minecraft world such as, animals, creepers, and 3-D Minecraft characters. Lessons involve teamwork, critical thinking, and a whole lot of imagination. Minecraft Makers come together to make awesome builds and bond over the game we all love!

Campers use their favorite game to learn the basics of modding and foundations of programming. They learn scripting and logic statements while creating their first mods! We teach introductory coding through a simulated environment inspired by Minecraft. In our new experience, campers take the next step beyond simply “playing” Minecraft and become true Redstone engineers. They expand their Redstone knowledge by constructing their own carnival with a variety of mini-games, roller coasters, and attractions powered by Redstone. Campers learn how to use Command and Structure blocks to incorporate them into their own builds. They activate their skills and take their Minecraft structures to the next level! On your marks, get set, create! Campers blast off in making their first 3D Mario Kart® and Crash Team Racing® style game! They design their own tracks and customize their karts and characters. Using a professional 3D game development software, campers combine their creations into their own kart racing game that they can play with friends and family at home. Campers can participate in eSports League races against other schools across the country with the chance to have their tracks featured in the Black Rocket master build of the game! New! Video Game Animation Age 8-14

Our camp let’s campers take their game design skills to the next level by creating and animating their own character sprites, objects, and backgrounds. They start with a name, develop the character’s personality, signature moves, special powers, and a storyline. They finish with a fully animated character that they can use in their very own game. Cmapers do not need any prior experience in game design, animation, or sketching. Camper-created games are available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Games are only compatible on PC computers. We can create Mac versions of campers’ games at the end of camp for $15.00. Campers work in pairs/teams for most of the program. Returning campers create advanced projects that build on previous years.
