OCC’s Counseling Center events offer a variety of workshops and community events throughout the year. These events are designed to bring mental health awareness and support to the campus community. Upcoming Events
Cycle-Breaker (noun): a person intentionally changing multi-generational family patterns
Beginning September 12, join the Counseling Center every second Tuesday of each month, at 2:00pm for Cycle Breakers, a book club for students with a focus on re-working family patterns, addressing generational trauma, and connecting with personal values.
Explore concepts such as generational trauma, culture, family dynamics, and personal values with thought-provoking discussions stemming from a monthly reading selected just for you. All reading material will be provided at no cost to students.

Join us on Wednesday, September 27, at 11 a.m. in the Larson Student Center (Building 8, 2nd Floor).
Hear messages of hope from National Speaker, Ricky Johnson Jr., a Marine Veteran, a convicted felon, and a suicide loss survivor. Participants will attend an educational presentation, connect with fellow attendees, meet Certified Therapy Dogs, and practice various wellness and self-care activities.

Join The Recovery Support Program at OCC in collaboration with Hope Sheds Light to celebrate the joy of recovery through the arts of storytelling, music, and poetry. Attendees can listen, share and connect with a recovery community on campus.

Time: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Location: Campus Mall
All are welcome and encouraged to attend. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided. Information will be available for local and on-campus resources for individuals and families seeking recovery from a substance use disorder.
