COUNSELING SERVICES

Professionally trained and credentialed counselors are available to provide free, solutions-based assistance to help students set and achieve goals. Counseling is available for any OCC or Kean-Ocean students who wish to address a wide array of personal and interpersonal issues that can interfere with daily living, achieving success and experiencing a strong, positive sense of well-being. These issues can include but are not limited to:

  • Stress Management
  • Academic Difficulties
  • Confusion about Goals
  • Emotional Distress, e.g., sadness, anger, loneliness, etc.
  • Relationship Issues and Conflicts
  • Grief and Loss
  • Sexual Identity Issues
  • Substance Abuse Referrals
  • Self Esteem Issues

Counseling is provided on a short term basis. It is not intended to take the place of long term therapy or the treatment provided by community based mental health professionals.

Federal law and professional ethical guidelines protect your right to privacy. All counseling sessions, referrals and consultations are kept strictly confidential except where disclosure is legally required. If a student wishes us to release counseling related information, a written release is required.
