Students Taking an Accuplacer Test

Please Note: Until further notice, we can only deliver tests using remote, virtual proctors. Please check the Coronavirus page for information regarding campus news during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

The Accuplacer Placement Tests for English and mathematics are still available for any students who choose to take them.* These tests may be helpful if you have been out of school for some time or if you’re just not sure what your skill levels are for English and/or math.  For more information about enrolling without testing visit our Self-Guided Placement page. Schedule your Accuplacer Placement test online.

Planning to Take Pre-Calculus OR Calculus?
In order to enroll in any of the advanced-level math courses, like Pre-Calculus or Calculus, students must either submit their high school transcripts to the Registrar’s office for review at If you do not have the necessary grades and/or courses, you will need to take the Accuplacer Placement Test for Pre-Calculus/Calculus.  Accuplacer calls this test Next-Generation Advanced Algebra and Functions (AAF).

*Please note: NJ Stars students are required by the state to prove college readiness with either SAT, PARCC or Accuplacer test scores.  If you are a NJ Stars student and you do not have qualifying SAT or PARCC scores for English and/or math, you still need to take the Accuplacer test(s).

Testing Resources

There are plenty of FREE practice and tutorial apps and websites to help prepare you for your test(s).  Here are some of the best:

The Accuplacer Web-based study app:  You can use this app anywhere,  it works on your phone, computer, or tablet!  The app features practice tests for the math–Next-Generation Quantitative Analysis and Statistics (QAS), Reading, Writing and Pre-Calculus/Calculus—Next Generation Advanced Algebra Functions (AAF).  These practice tests have the same types of questions that are on the tests. The “Learn As You Go” feature provides immediate feedback about right/wrong answers with tutorials to help you learn how to get the right answers.

The College Board/Accuplacer Practice:  Free sample questions to download and practice.

EdReady by NROC:  Test yourself in math and English and create a customized study path based on your test results.

Free Accuplacer Practice Tests: This site uses actual sample Accuplacer questions to help you see how prepared you are for the actual exam. Sponsored by Kaplan and updated for 2021.

Here a couple of great test-taking tips that will certainly help you:

  1. DON’T RUSH!  There’s only one part of the Placement Test that’s timed:  The Writeplacer Essay. You’ll have 50 minutes to write a well-organized, well-developed, grammatically correct, properly spelled and punctuated essay on the computer without the use of Spell Check. You’ll have paper and a pencil to jot down your thoughts, so you’ll have plenty of time. All other sections of the test are multiple-choice, with no time limit, so TAKE YOUR TIME!
  2. Practice, practice, practice!  The Placement Test measures your skills, and if you don’t use them, you do lose them. The more you practice, the better you’ll do.
  3. Call us at The Testing Center, 732.255.0401, if you have any questions. We’re here to help.
