TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENT FOR AA AND AS DEGREE PROGRAMS

Effective September 2009, the State of New Jersey has mandated that all NJ community college students enrolled in AA and AS degree programs will be required to satisfy a Technology general education requirement by taking a computer technology skills/information literacy course or by demonstrating competency through a test-out option.

Students planning to take the test-out option should make an appointment to take the test in the Testing Center. The minimum passing score is 70%. The test will be scored automatically, and students will know immediately if they have passed. The proctoring fee for the test is $43.50. Several texts have been placed on reserve in the Library for students who would like advance preparation.

Please be advised that students are entitled to only one attempt at the test-out.

Most OCC programs include a technology requirement. You will need to take a computer technology skills/information literacy course or successfully test out of the requirement. For more program information, view the Course Maps (curriculum guides) on the College Catalog.

If you have questions or concerns about the requirement, please contact the Academic Advising Office at 732.255.0400, Ext. 300.
