Scholarships are a type of financial aid that is granted to a student from various places (university/college, business, organization, government) to help pay for your education. This money does not need to be repaid:
- Academic Achievement
- Special Talents (e.g. Athletic Ability)
- Specific Background (e.g. Member of Phi Theta Kappa)
- Financial Need (e.g. Government Grants – Garden State Guarantee)
Scholarships can be used to pay anything related to educational costs:
- Tuition & Fees
- Housing
- Books & Other Supplies
- Study Abroad
- Living Expenses
Some scholarships are automatically applied when a student is accepted to the institution. However, some require a separate application. Remember to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) & NJ Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA)
