OCC MANAHAWKIN HAPPENINGS

Academic & Student Services Events

OCC Manahawkin provides all student services including advising, registration, and financial aid. We are dedicated to providing a full college experience to our students. In addition to the academic services available at OCC Manahawkin, students can participate in clubs and organizations without traveling to the main campus. Walk-in Tutoring is now available at OCC Manahawkin, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Monday, April 22, (9:30am-11:30am)The Recovery Support Program at OCC is a community of individuals who have a shared interest in recovery as an individual, family member or peer affected by a Substance Use Disorder. Program activities are provided in partnership with Hope Sheds Light, a local recovery community organization. Together, we offer:

    • Weekly All-Recovery Meetings
    • Individual peer support/coaching
    • Campus and Community Events
    • Social Events
    • Education and Training
    • Scholarships
    • Counseling and Referrals
    • FREE online resource guide – The Campus Recovery Network on Canvas click to enroll

Tuesday, April 23Need a copy of your OCC accommodation letter? Perhaps you are new to OCC and want to apply for accommodations? The Office of Disability Services (Rachelle) invites students who request reasonable accommodations to meet with our staff to discuss their past use of accommodations and any disability-related barriers they anticipate or are experiencing at OCC. We consider eligibility for students with disabilities under Section 504/ADA and the appropriateness of the accommodations at the postsecondary level. Check out our availability at OCC Manahawkin by looking under EVENTS on the OCC app.

*Movie Screening (“Rose”) and Panel Discussion, Thursday, April 25 (1:00pm-4:00pm)A film that highlights family connection and community influence through a journey of mental health. Please join us in Room 117 to connect with students and staff in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month kicking off in May. Additional services attending in support are, OCC Counseling Department, Recovery Support/Hope Sheds Light and National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

The OCC Manahawkin Food Pantry (located in the kitchen area) is open to all students. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to anyone on the team if you have any questions.

Important Information

  • The OCC Manahawkin Food Pantry is ready to assist.  Please connect with anyone on the team if you need anything, so we can point you in the right direction.
  • Please connect with an advisor if you need a student ID.
  • Students – feel free to use the student lounge areas anytime during the week to study. All are welcome!
  • OCC Manahawkin opens at 7:30 a.m. Monday-Thursday and at 8:00 a.m. on Friday.  In the event the staff member(s) opening OCC Manahawkin at 7:30 am are running late, (due to unforeseen circumstances while traveling to the building), please know there is another staff member scheduled to arrive by 8:00 am each day.  Be advised that 8:00 a.m. classes will always be able to run at their regularly scheduled time.
  • Don’t forget to check out some amazing shows taking place at the Ocean County College Robert J. Novins Planetarium throughout the month!
