Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need a High School Diploma or GED?
High School Diplomas and/or GEDs are not required for admission to Ocean County College. However, they are required for financial aid eligibility and for admission into our Nursing Program.
What if i already have college credits?
If you earned the credits at another school, you’ll need to have your official transcripts sent to our Records and Registration Office for official credit evaluation. They can be emailed to registrar@ocean.edu. If you earned the credits at OCC, we will have them on your student record!
Can I Earn a Degree While Working full-time?
You sure can! We offer classes in-person, online, and with remote options. You can even earn a degree completely online! We aim to work with your schedule.
Also, a quick tip… as a full-time employee, be sure to ask your employer if they offer any type of tuition reimbursement benefits!
it’s been a while since i’ve been in school… how do i know which math and english classes to take?
OCC allows students to use self-guided placement to register for their classes. Placement test have become a thing of the past! For more information on the different classes, view the Self-Guided Placement Webpage.

Funding Your Education
The first step to paying for college is filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Did you know that HALF of all students who complete the FAFSA for Ocean County College are able to attend school tuition-free?

Student Support
Ocean County College provides a variety of support services to help you succeed as a student. These resources are available to assist you at every step of your journey. Here are some of the support services that are available to you and how to access them:
- Direct Point of Contact
- Your direct point of contact for anything you may need during your time at OCC is Calleigh Kearns. Calleigh can connect you with any of the resources available, offer academic and success coaching, and will serve as your Academic Advisor.
- Student Success Coaches
- Ocean County College’s dedicated Success Team works with students from their first semester through graduation. By way of coaching sessions, they support and help students with time-management, study skills, test-prep, organization, note-taking and more! Not sure what you need help with? That’s fine! - Tutoring Services
- All students have access to OCC’s free Tutoring Center. They offer standard tutoring, writing center review, citation and formatting assistance, and more. Sessions can be conducted in person, online synchronously via WebEx or asynchronous over email. For information about the Tutoring Center and the steps to book an appointment, click here.
- Counseling Services
- The Counseling Center at OCC is a team of dedicated professionals that offer a wide-variety of free counseling services to OCC students. Services are offered virtually via phone or secure video. To learn more about the Counseling Center, click here.

How to Login to Ocean Connect
Ocean Connect is the Ocean County College student portal. You will use Ocean Connect to access your current courses, register for upcoming terms, and access your student account. You can login at this link: Ocean Connect
- Username and Password
- Within 24 hours of submitting your application, you will receive an email with your Ocean Connect username.
- Typically, it is firstname_lastname@students.ocean.edu
- Your initial password is your OCC student ID number. Here is how to find your ID number:
- OCC student ID numbers always start with 0 and are seven digits long.
- To view your ID number, you can find it on the My Account page of OCC’s Online Application.
- If we have your social security number on file, you can use this link to search for your ID number: What’s My OCC ID?
- Within 24 hours of submitting your application, you will receive an email with your Ocean Connect username.
