What You Will Learn
Students in the History Education concentration at OCC will attain historical knowledge as well as skills in communication, research, and critical thinking that are necessary for instructional abilities and successfully engaging the public. Our coursework emphasizes understanding and interpreting historical evidence, articulating ideas to faculty and peers, and developing a better understanding of how people actually learn. In addition, students also gain valuable experience making connections between history and contemporary issues, which is one of the best skills to make history teaching and civic education relevant.
