What You Will Learn
Students in OCC’s History concentration will learn how to critically analyze evidence, evaluate various points of view, understand change over time, and information literacy. Our coursework teaches students research, writing, and communication skills while also showing them how to work with primary and secondary source materials. Students in the history program can also gain hands-on experience and targeted skill development in the areas of civic participation, leadership, and community engagement that allow for successful, fulfilling careers in a variety of fields.

- Formulate clear arguments regarding historic events and ideas
- Showcase information literacy through disciplined academic research

History majors often pursue careers in education, research, public history, government, or archival work, with roles such as historian, archivist, museum curator, or policy analyst.
