OCC JAZZ BAND – FALL 2016 / SPRING 2017

Jazz Band Alumni Statement

I first started OCC in the fall of 2015. Boy, do I wish I joined jazz band in that, my first semester, for I would have been exposed to this wonderful experience earlier. I was never able to play jazz the way I do now in the OCC Jazz Band.  The environment in the band is so welcoming; I immediately clicked with everyone in the group, which made it that much easier to create music with them. Prof. Marowitz allows us to express our individuality through playing and by teaching us so much.  I had no idea how to improvise, but with his helpful tips, I am much more confident. I can’t wait to continue for the next few semesters that I’m at the college.
