Connecting Through Art

Seascape - Ocean County College's Literature and Art Magazine

A Word From the Editor:

Please, create.

There is nothing else I can ask of you. As technology advances and the world seems to spin faster and faster, it can be hard to find the time, dedication, and passion to put pen to paper. Generative AI models have begun to flood online spaces with vapid artwork and writings, yet the presence of these soulless works is little more than a rallying cry for those who want to share their craft with the world. Everyone has something to convey. Whether it is a statement of affection for a loved one, a stunning view of nature, a painting born from the deepest strife you’ve ever known, or even just a short funny story, you lose nothing by creating. Don’t forget that the human race consists of lovers, fighters, and storytellers.

The works of this magazine consist of many such people, ready and willing to share themselves with the world. Ocean County College harbors countless unique talents, and this collection is only a small fraction of what is out there. Regardless, the following bevy of art is a representation of the student body: diverse and powerful. Like fireworks bursting in the summer night, each page carries with it a bright new show to dazzle the eyes and stir the soul. Some may have similar subjects, but no two are the same. No matter what path you’ve tread in life or what decisions you’ve made pridefully or woefully, there will be something here for you. We are all only human, after all. So, just like those featured here, and those who have come before in prior editions of this magazine, I ask you one simple thing.

Please, create.
