About this Program at SOMC

Nursing Students

The program is designed so that all classroom and laboratories are delivered, when possible, within Southern Ocean Medical Center*. Online components to the didactic (classroom) portions of the entire nursing curriculum allow significant portions of the courses to be taught in a web-assisted manner. This is a full-time program. It is recommended that students accepted into the program only work a maximum of 16 hours per week.

A hands-on healthcare background is requiredApplicants must be working for at least six months.

The clinical experience, face-to-face colloquium, and nursing laboratory are offered on scheduled days during the week. However, students are expected to arrive the evening before, to pick up their clinical assignments and prepare their patient research. Additionally, students must schedule time to practice their skills in a nursing skills laboratory which is available days and evenings Monday through Friday and on Saturday mornings.

Please be advised that you must have a PC based computer. We do not support Apple and you may encounter problems on-line.

*Clinical experience is not limited to SOMC after Nurs. 1 and you will have experiences at other clinical locations throughout the program. Clinicals can be scheduled anytime 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
