New Student Orientation

Get Connected Right from the Start!

Our interactive orientation program helps you complete the necessary steps to become a successful OCC student!  Our program is an excellent opportunity to explore valuable resources, meet other OCC students, and connect with faculty and staff. You’ll learn vital information to help you prepare for your first semester!

Step 1:  Register for our In-Person New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation is an excellent opportunity to make connections on campus before the semester begins.  During orientation, students will attend workshops, have the opportunity to speak with professors, and learn about the many free resources available at OCC.

Check out our Eventbrite page to register for an orientation session on August 6, 12, or 21!

Step 2: Complete your online Campus Compass course

This online course provides you with resources and information about the college, student support services, policies and procedures, and how to register for classes.  We designed our online Compass to give you a positive start to your first semester.  The Campus Compass takes approximately 30-45 minutes to finish and consists of several modules with a short quiz at the end of each.  The Compass uses smart technology, so you do not have to complete it all at once.  You can work on it when it’s convenient for you by stopping and saving your work along the way!

In the Compass you’ll learn about:

  • Support Services:  Take advantage of campus services and resources, including academic support, tutoring, disability services, and more.
  • Student Life:  Get involved in student life, campus clubs and organizations, and athletics and intramurals.
  • Campus Safety:  Learn about how our Campus Safety teams helps keep our college community safe.
  • Policies:  Review our academic and student code of conduct policies and learn about the important dates in the academic calendar.
  • Academics:  Discover Ocean Connect, course options, how to communicate with faculty, and how to add/drop a class.
  • Next Steps:  Wrap up with key takeaways to get you started on the right foot at OCC.

The online Compass is available to all new and returning OCC students and is available in both English and Spanish!

You must use your OCC email and password to access the Campus Compass.
